Toyota Etios - a combination of luxury and efficiency

Toyota Etios was the most awaited car in the entire India and was launched in Bangalore on 1st of December, 2010. The base variant of the car is available for Rs 4.96 Lakhs and the top end version is available at Rs. 6.86 Lakhs. There are five variants of the car which are available in the market that are Toyota Etios J, Toyota Etios G safety, Toyota Etios G, Toyota Etios VX and Toyota Etios V. All the five variants of the car are available in six different colors that are Harmony Beige, Vermilion Red, White, Symphony Silver, Serene Bluish Silver and Celestial Black.

Toyota Etios J is the basic version which includes standard features. Some of these features are body colored bumpers, wheel caps, tubeless tyres, heaters and air conditioning systems, glove box, trip meters but the model does not contain power steering. Toyota Etios VX is the top version of car which includes all the standard features and in addition to these, various other features which are side skirts, audio control systems which are mounted on the steering wheel, steering wheel is leather wrapped and the shift knob is chrome finished.

The car is equipped with five speed manual transmission gearbox and 1.5 L DOHC engine which provides the power of 90Ps and the torque of 132 Nm. Competitors of the car are Tata Manza, Maruti Swift and Hyundai Accent.

Overview:

The front end of the Toyota Etios is very sharp and dynamic with integration of upper and lower grilles with the headlamps. Collectively they express the appearance of human being in a smiling way. Upper grilles of the car are chrome finished while the lower grilles are black in color. At the ends of lower grilles, fog lamps which are pearl white in color are located. Wipers for providing the clear view in rainy season are also located in the front and rear mirrors. Door handles, side view mirrors and bumpers are body colored.

Tail lights of Toyota Etios are triangular in shape and the clusters of taillight include brake and indicator lights. Exhaust pipes of the car are not apparent. Body colored OVRMs, Side skirts, wipers; alloy wheels are few remarkable features of Toyota Etios which enhance its appearance.

The car also has comfortable interiors but the designers failed to provide it the stunning looks. But overall, the features present in the car are able to provide value to its users. Instrumental panel is located in the centre of the dashboard and the AC vents are located on the sides. Audio systems are installed in the centre of the console. These are operated by touching the screen. This is provided near steering wheel in order to facilitate the driver. Generous legroom and headroom is also available in the car for providing comfort to the occupants.

Technical and Safety measures:

Toyota Etios is equipped with dual airbags which provides safety to the driver and the person who is sitting next to him in the case of collisions or accidents. The structure of the car is designed in an impact absorbing way which protects the passengers in the case of sudden jerks. This is the latest technology which distributes the impact of collision on the exteriors, thus keeps the passengers intact and safe. The speedometer is also located at a proper place which helps the driver to keep their eyes fixed on the road. Traction controls and Antilock braking systems are the standard features which are equipped in the car for the protection of its occupants in the case of abrupt braking situations. Immobilizers, Keyless entry, Electronic Brake force Distribution systems are also present in the car for providing safety and security to its users.

Conclusions:

Toyota Vehicles are well known for their performance and quality. The company does not compromise on the quality and image. The engine of Toyota Etios is capable to provide sufficient torque and power. The overall performance of the car can be judged by its acceleration and fuel efficiency figures. It can easily cross the mark of 100kmph in just 12 seconds. It provides the mileage of 12kmpl in cities and 17.6kmpl on highways. It does not compromise on its luxury elements and performance but still it is a very fuel efficient car by Toyota Motors.
