Lo and behold, the desired and looked forward to Tata Aria has finally come to the Indian market. The Tata Aria is a hybrid mix of a sedan and a SUV to create a MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) and it is all Indian in character and persona. The Indian buyers were greatly excited by the possibilities offered by the new Tata Aria which is a typical soccer mom van concept redefined with some new styling. Although, such vehicles from foreign competition have failed to capture the hearts and minds of the Indian buyers at large but the Tata Aria may just redefine just that. The list of auxiliaries offered with the Tata Aria is just huge. The list starts out with CRDI (Common Rail Diesel Injection), dual fly wheels, new transmission and variant names to match the overall splendour of the Tata Aria . The new variants have been named as the Pleasure, Prestige and the Pride and are priced starting from 1.3 million Indian rupees straight up to 1.55 million Indian rupees. The option is very tempting to say the least that is to buy up a Tata Aria and to paint the town red.
Tata Aria has been equipped with a 2.2 litres engine that is as full of new and innovative technologies as could be imagined. The engine is fitted out with the DICOR (Direct Injection Common Rail) system to distribute diesel to the cylinders. This engine on the Tata Aria has already been installed and market tested on the Tata Safari. The maximum power produced is a staggering 140 bhp at 4,000 rpm while the maximum torque delivered is a whopping 320 Nm between 1,700 rpm and 2,700 rpm. This will ensure that the Tata Aria will be properly powered and primed for use in the market unlike the competition namely the Skoda Yeti which is strictly underpowered. The only reservation within some circles is that the engine offered is a diesel only but could have been a gasoline version too which would have greatly added to the rapport of the Tata Aria .
Commentators have agreed unanimously that the Tata Aria is probably the best designed Tata vehicle out there which is obviously highly prestigious for Tata and the Tata Aria . Although, it looks pretty acceptable but what must be kept in mind is that the Tata Aria may be decent looking but is still lowly compared to foreign competition models. The range of colours offered needs to be updated too especially in a bid to make the Tata Aria a vehicle with global appeal. The front hood slides down with a decent enough taper while the roof tapers slightly from front to back on the Tata Aria . The head lamps are simple crystal clear and are sleek but do seem like stretched to be fitted into place just like those on the Skoda Superb. The front grille could have been made more impressive too with the use of chrome in the right places and not distributed everywhere on the Tata Aria . Moreover, the front grille slides onto the front hood from the bumper base pretty naturally but it terminated rather artificially onto the front hood. From far off, it looks real pretty but up close it seems like the Tata Aria just went under a truck and then came out after an accident.
As already mentioned that the Tata Aria may serve as Tata’s flagship model given its styling as the best of the Tata lineage. The interior is not an exception to this rule either. Tata has ensured the use of only the very best of all devices and materials on the Tata Aria ’s interiors to make sure that the competition sees tough days ahead. The cabin is very roomy and the last two rows of seats can be folded over to produce more space as well. The steering wheel of the Tata Aria can be adjusted as desired to suit driver comfort needs and ergonomic desires. The steering wheel also houses audio controls and phone connectivity via Bluetooth. The console and the instrument cluster on the Tata Aria are pretty well organised and placed to suit the driver’s needs and accessibility at all times.
