Both the urban and rural population of India has found a great utility in two wheelers fulfilling a need for personal transport. The congestion in metros and burgeoning towns has made two wheelers almost a necessity for travelling needs of middle class families who can not afford cars. Lack of sufficient rural transport has also made two wheelers a common sight in the villages of modern India. Besides, many people use two wheelers for commercial functions also. TVS Motors has launched many models to aptly fulfill the various needs of two wheelers; one of such models in TVS Max . TVS Max is one of the strong brands from TVS and it is offering a stiff competition for the similar class two wheelers from Bajaj and Hero Honda. Actually the model was discontinued a few years ago as the two stroke engine did not conform to the emission standards but the new model with 4 stroke engine is back to serve the need of a strong versatile vehicle. The rural markets expect a vehicle to sustain the typical overloads and TVS Max fits the bill efficiently. TVS Max in its new form is the result of the research conducted by TVS on the requirements of the two wheeler users, especially from rural areas, which is the new upcoming market segment. It was observed that rural traders and businessmen do not have any motor cycle fitting their needs and the answer was a new TVS Max built with these specifications regarding, load bearing capacity, powerful suspension system, durability and overall economy. Specifications: The model with four stroke engine is rechristened as TVS Max 4R. The engine is having 110 cc capacity with 4- stroke air cooled single cylinder SOHC type. The power of the engine is about 8.4 bhp at 7500 rpm and produces a maximum torque of 8.3 nm at 5500 rpm. Since the new bikes at the entry level are also sporting self starter feature, TVS Max is also having self starter provision. The transmission system consists of a 4 speed gear box. Brake system comprises of drum type brakes at both the wheels. The suspension system is the standard telescopic fork type. It has very good fuel efficiency. The vehicle comes with a 12 liter capacity fuel tank. Features of TVS Max : Durability and overload capacity and affordable are the features expected in rural areas and TVS Max is built satisfying all the three characters. It also has a detachable rear seat to which can serve the dual use; that of a regular pillion ride and if you remove it, you can hook containers or milk cans and many other goods. TVS Max provides the regular telescopic suspension system for the front wheel but it has one more unique feature that is introduced for the first time in India; it has it has four shock absorbers fitted on the rear side ensuring a smoother ride even at higher loads. TVS claims that the two wheeler can carry a load of 200 kgs! The brakes are very effective with bigger 130 mm discs. The reinforcements for the spokes, guards for wheel and indicator enhance the durability of the vehicle. The long wheel base and wide 3 inch rear tyre give maximum stability and road gripping characteristics to TVS Max . This is very important in the rural roads where muddy and wet roads are common. It has one more thoughtful addition called ‘Easy Centre’ which is an arrangement to make the vehicle ‘stand’ even if it is loaded fully. TVS Max , in spite of its many unique features is priced economically. The ex-show room price is Rs 37,590 which, is approximately about Rs 40,000 to Rs 41000 on road price. With the features built taking care of the Indian customers, especially in rural areas, there is no doubt that TVS Max in its new form is going to create waves across country.
