Bajaj is one of the pioneers in bikes and they are all set to re-launch their Bajaj Boxer in April 2011. As we all know, Bajaj is a huge name in India as far as bikes are concerned and they are in a mood to revive the Bajaj Boxer magic which was forgotten for the past few years. Notably, Bajaj Boxer was the first bike from Bajaj to possess 111.66cc power 4-stroke engine. The power output was notable too, since it gave an amazing 7.7 HO at 7000 RPM. When we take look at the history of Bajaj Boxer we can see that it was the bike which saved the company from going down further on the sales. Hero Honda’s Splendor and CD 100 were giving sleepless nights for Bajaj and the company was looking for a magical formula at that time; and they managed to realize that in Bajaj Boxer. However, with the focus being shifted to Pulsar and 125cc bikes, Bajaj put Boxer in the backburner in 2007. There was no development on this bike until very recently when Bajaj decided to revisit the glorious days of Bajaj Boxer. The company was forced to realize the fact that the golden days of 100cc bikes are not over yet and they are now on the verge of releasing Bajaj Boxer. Of course, there few modifications in the latest version, as they promise to bring in some innovative features on board.
The top executives at Bajaj auto assure that they are ready with their latest version of Bajaj boxer. However, company doesn’t want to get in to full swing with promotions for Bajaj Boxer, as they reiterate the fact that their focus will remain on Pulsar and Discover as of now. Which means the company is cautious with Bajaj Boxer and curious to see how well it gets accepted by the bike lovers. Therefore bulk production would begin only after looking at the initial reaction it garners. All Bajaj bikes have been known for their cost effective design and the high fuel efficiency; Bajaj promises that the tradition will continue with Bajaj Boxer as well.
The testing took place in the outer boundaries of Pune. A four-speed gear box is coupled with 125cc engine inside the Bajaj Boxer and it’s unique to this bike. Triangular tail lamp and round headlight are kept intact in Boxer . The tank is capable of containing 12 liters. Speedometer has got a rectangular shape.
As it always happened with other Bajaj bikes, the 125cc engine is supposed to give amazing fuel economy. The expected mileage for the city roads is 70 KMPL whereas 85 KMPL is expected on the highways. All other leading 125cc bikes have something to watch out for. We have already spoken about the 12 liters fuel tank; this is one of the striking features of Bajaj Boxer.
Red, blue and black are the ruling colors as far as bikes are concerned and Bajaj Boxer is no different here. There are attractive patterns of these three colors and you can choose from whichever you like the most.
The acceleration and pick up are definitely going to see a rise given there are many improved and extra features compared to the earlier version and this is definitely going to show. The expected peak power is 10 PS at 7500 RPM. Now when it comes to the acceleration 80 is expected on an average, for 18 seconds. Needs more proof for the power factor?
From what we see, Bajaj Boxer is one of the most good looking entry level bikes in India right now. Right from the graphics to the huge fuel tank, it’s designed to give the best impression.
Comfort is something which it offers in plenty. Whether it is the Electronic Breaking Distribution or Anti-Braking System the latest version of Bajaj Boxer is all equipped to provide the best possible comfort on the Indian roads.
You will find latest forks at all ends. Front fork is telescopic whereas the rear fork is 5 steps type. Rear end also has got Nitrox gas suspension.
On the brighter side it’s affordable. It also has got a sporty design and best fuel-economy. Now when we talk about the drawbacks, the height is comparatively low. Also, the wheelbase is not the best feature of Bajaj Boxer.
